Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) for a day shift cardiopulmonary services position at a hospital serving adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations across ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg, and ED units.
Details
- Hospital-based cardiopulmonary services department serving ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg, and ED units
- Patient population is approximately 95% adult, 5% pediatric and neonatal
- Primary ventilators used include G5 Hamilton and Bellavista; NPPV also utilized
- Day shift, 7:00am – 7:00pm, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- Weekend coverage required: 5 weekend days per 6-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required on an every-other-holiday basis
- No on-call requirement for this position
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- CRT or RRT certification required
- BLS certification required
- NC Respiratory Care Practitioner license required if applicable
- No prior experience required
- Proficiency in advanced practice procedures including airway management, tracheostomy care, arterial cannulation and punctures, endotracheal intubations and extubations, ventilator care and specialized ventilator modes, weaning techniques, ABG analysis, blood glucose monitoring, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, and ECMO management
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
Additional Information
- Administer respiratory care including aerosol medication delivery, oxygen therapy, bedside pulmonary function testing, and breathing exercises
- Manage all aspects of ventilator care including setup, verification, specialized modes, patient monitoring, and weaning
- May perform advanced practice procedures per UNC Air Care Protocol, including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, and ABGs
- May transport pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals as part of Carolina Air Care team per protocol
- May manage extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support when working with ECMO
- May assume Charge Therapist responsibilities based on experience
- Serves as a clinical resource to nursing staff, physicians, and other facility staff, and may assist in training new staff, students, and physicians
