Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (NICU) with a minimum of 2 years of Level 3 NICU experience for a 13-week day shift travel contract at an acute care hospital.
Details
- Work in a hospital respiratory therapy unit serving both NICU and adult patient populations
- NICU unit has 36 beds with typically 18–20 patients at a time
- Level 3 NICU setting; traveler may be the only NICU RRT on night shift
- Adult respiratory responsibilities include general and critical care
- NICU responsibilities include Nitric Oxide administration and ground transports; transport experience preferred
- Equipment includes PB 840, PB 980, Drager VN500, LTV, and Airvo ventilators, as well as a 3100A oscillator and Spacelabs monitors
- EMR: Cerner; medication dispensing via Omnicell
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- Voluntary call available
- Floating to any like unit or patient location within the facility
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Level 3 NICU required; 1 year of experience is not sufficient
- RRT preferred; CRT with at least 2 years of experience will be considered
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP; ACLS and APLS preferred
- Cerner or Epic EMR experience required for first-time travelers
- Must be able to work independently in a Level 3 NICU setting
- Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
- License required if applicable
- One professional reference from a charge-level supervisor or above within the past 12 months required for consideration
- DOB (day and month) and full SSN required for consideration
- Copy of certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered with at least 2 years of experience and Cerner or Epic EMR experience
- Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
- Orientation for travelers new to the facility includes 24 hours of classroom training and 24 hours of on-unit training; orientation for returning travelers depends on time since last assignment
- Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per facility policy
- Time-off requests during designated blackout dates will not be approved
- Scrubs: Navy blue required
- Free parking available in an on-site parking deck
- Candidates must be available for a manager interview prior to any offer
