Description
Job Summary
Provides care and treatment to patients with respiratory and cardiac illnesses across all age groups, including adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations. This role involves operating advanced respiratory care equipment, responding to emergency situations, and supporting high-risk clinical procedures. Works a consistent assigned schedule while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
Set up and operate respiratory care equipment for diagnosis and treatment of respiratory conditions.
Operate Hamilton ventilators, Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) systems, and HiFlow devices.
Utilize Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Perform 12-lead EKGs after hours and on weekends using MAC 15 carts.
Attend all C-sections and high-risk deliveries.
Respond to Code Blue, Rapid Response, Trauma, and Code Stroke calls.
Participate in ground transports with intubated patients when needed.
Work within a core staffing model of two therapists available 24/7/365.
Physical Demands
Prolonged standing and walking.
Frequent pushing, pulling, and movement of respiratory equipment.
Regular lifting of supplies up to 25 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions
Possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases.
Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
Potential exposure to hazardous anesthetic agents, bodily fluids, and waste.
Requirements
Qualifications
Required
Current, unencumbered Respiratory Care License.
Associate degree from a CoARC-accredited respiratory therapy program.
Current BLS, PALS, NRP, and ACLS (at hire or within 90 days).
Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations.
Preferred
Two years of clinical experience across all age groups.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
